In an Emergency

If you have seen a counsellor at the Centre previously, first call 585-1246 and arrange to see your counsellor.

if you have not seen a counsellor at the Centre before, indicate to our front desk staff that it is an emergency and you will be seen by the first available counsellor that day.

If you need assistance when the Centre is not open, please contact: Acadia Safety and Security at 585-1103 and they will contact one of our counsellors.

For after-hours crises, students in residence may talk to their Residence RA. Students not in residence may go to a local emergency room for assistance:

VALLEY REGIONAL HOSPITAL in Kentville, or call 911 (and ambulance service).

24-hour, seven-days-a-week telecare service

When you dial 811, from any phone registered in Nova Scotia, you will be directed to an experienced registered nurse who will ask the you to describe the symptoms you or a friend are experiencing. The nurse will then assess the urgency of the symptoms or health condition and advise you on the next steps, such as appropriate self-care, or to seek services from a family physician or another health-care provider, or to visit an emergency department. This service is provided in over 100 languages.
